Lighting does not have to dominate a room to change how it feels. A slender track, a few carefully placed accents and calm background light can leave the architecture and furnishings room to breathe. LTX PICO_LINE is a 24 V system worth considering for this approach.
Start with LTX PICO at Luminance, where tracks, luminaires and accessories are listed together. Here is how to turn separate components into a coherent lighting composition, and what to check before ordering.

1. What is PICO_LINE, and when is it worth considering?
This is a system rather than a single fitting: a suitable track brings compatible modules together, while their positions shape the lighting. A compact visual profile is especially interesting when you want a quiet ceiling rather than a large decorative statement.
Imagine a living room with artwork and shelving: one source highlights the wall, while another supports the circulation area. In an open-plan kitchen and living space, you can organise light around activities instead of filling the ceiling with a regular grid of identical points. These are planning ideas, not a ready-made design for every room.
2. TOP, LINEA and DISK: different forms, different jobs
All three PICO_LINE families are represented in the Luminance catalogue. Consider TOP for a directed accent: the manufacturer specifies 5 W, 450 lm and 36° for the black 16.0643.5.930.BK version. Mounting height and aiming also affect the resulting light patch.
LINEA offers a linear format to support a lighting composition. LINEA 300 16.3000.5.930.BK.DIM, for example, is 300 mm long with a 100° beam. DISK has a round form; the black 18 W version is listed at 1100 lm and 100°. A wide beam alone does not guarantee even illumination throughout a room.
Explore PICO track lights and compare the exact versions. Start with the task: highlighting an object, supporting a line, or adding more broadly distributed light.

3. Combining ambient and accent lighting
Begin with where you sit, read, work and walk, rather than the number of modules. Light directed towards a wall can give a room depth, but does not automatically replace comfortable illumination beside a sofa or on a worktop.
A few purposeful accents can be enough for a calm composition. Check aiming from the main viewing positions: a bright source should not remain in your direct field of view. Final quantities and positions depend on the room plan, ceiling height and the selected luminaires’ light distribution.
4. 3000K or 4000K: choose the atmosphere, then the code
The range includes 3000K and 4000K versions. The former gives a warmer impression; the latter is more neutral. For a home, compare both alongside the actual timber, wall paint, stone and fabrics rather than choosing from a number alone.
Colour temperature is not brightness. If you need a brighter room, compare light output and placement rather than simply selecting a higher K value. Coordinating the main lighting colour usually makes an open space feel more coherent. Check the colour temperature of each exact product code, not just the family name.
5. ON/OFF and DIM: check the control version
PICO_LINE includes different versions. TOP 16.0643.5.930.BK is labelled ON/OFF, while 16.0643.5.930.WH.DIM is labelled DIM DC. The PICO_LINE name alone is therefore not a promise that every fitting can be dimmed.
For evening scenes, establish compatibility between the luminaire, power supply and controls before buying. A DIM suffix does not itself mean built-in Zigbee or a direct DALI connection. The documentation for the complete selected arrangement must confirm the intended control method.
6. Why the complete system matters
Tracks and luminaires are only part of the solution. Suitable connectors, power feeds, fixings and a power supply are also needed. Equal voltage does not make parts from different track systems interchangeable: mechanical and electrical compatibility both need confirmation.
Browse PICO tracks and PICO accessories separately. Selection must account for total load, manufacturer requirements and maintenance access. A 24 V system does not remove the requirements for its mains-powered section: agree the specification and installation with a qualified electrician. The checked TOP, LINEA and DISK versions are IP20 and are not a solution for positions exposed to water splashes.
7. A short checklist before ordering
Start with the room plan and lighting scenes, then choose exact product codes. The aim is not merely an attractive line on the ceiling, but lighting that is comfortable to use every day.
- Room dimensions, ceiling height and furniture positions.
- The jobs of ambient lighting, accents and separate task areas.
- Track version, mounting method and compatibility of every component.
- Housing finish and colour temperature of each module.
- ON/OFF or dimming, with compatible power supply and controls.
- A complete accessory specification and an electrician-reviewed design.
